Fancy a new challenge? Reply to topic

hqarrse hasn't actually installed the supporters module on our main site yet as he's still mucking round on a test server with it so I suspect that is why we haven't hit that problem yet.

After your code change above the module installed perfectly on rumration but still didn't work on ARRSE. In the end I removed our old database entries, installed the module and then refilled the database which seemed to do the trick! Unfortunately I think on ARRSE we really suffer from having a database that has been progressively upgraded from YaBB (as files!), to PHPNuke 5.x, through various versions of that, to CpgNuke 8.x, to DF CMS 9.x.x, etc.

The great news is that it all appears to be working now so thank you very mcuh for that.

Without that change mentioned above you would have been unable to install any module as it was a fatal config error which we have encountered on a number of other sites. I just didn't twig to it early emough Laughing

Anyway, glad to hear it's working - let me know of any issues. I might even add it to downloads since ians has removed access to his original version and seems to have abandoned the module.

Actually now that you mention it ......

I've got a problem with permissions. It would seem that allowing registered users to post prevents the group moderators from having access to the edit functions. Similarly removing the ability of users to post gives moderators access to the edit functions ......

hmm, I did test that here with the Projects group and didn't have any issues, as you would have seen with your own access here.

I just tested with Moderators here and had no issues. so I'm mystified Confused

Maybe the fact that we have a conflict between allowing registered users to post and moderators to edit indicates the problem may be in the db? Any chance you could post your database so we can compare it against mine?

Interesting, I've changed my database to reflect yours (see below and particularly the change to -1 and 3912) ...... and it now works!

hmm, even more perplexing.

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):

Just had the same problem with our other site (Rum Ration) and the same fix worked! Why not manually edit your database so it looks like my first one and see if you get the same problem?

good idea - I'll play Smile

It's either a conflict from the way I just tacked onto the cached perms file, or I've not been specific enough in the sql queries. Either is quite possible from the minimal approach I took to the changes.

I could just set the initial view perm to registered users in the install file, but that just bypasses the real problem.

hmm, never go looking for bugs - something always crawls out and bites you Laughing

Found something else before I even got to what I was looking for, but it doesn't affect Blogs functionality, so it's not an operational problem.

Found another bug, which I didn't think was the cause, but ......
Interesting effect - couldn't duplicate your structure using mysql4 but could using mysql5, unless I did it manually Confused

Attached is my current structure and it doesn't present any issue.
Here is the update - file changes only.

Thanks for this - I've just installed it on our third site (www.rearparty.co.uk) and it went on fine ......

I'm now stumped - maybe it was just a peculiarity with our setup and the way we installed it?

Yes, tis a little weird - maybe it was the second bug I fixed that was affecting things. Mind you, it's not a conventional installer - I may just convert it to standard.

It's now had a few installs on other sites, with no problems, so I guess it's now okay 🙏

I'd certainly agree with that - are you now going to unleash it on the wider world?

Yes - it has been "unleashed" ROFLMAO

Hopefully, we shall get some different perspectives on it.

Have you guys released it to members yet?
