Summary: This is better than the Shure SE530
Comment: I've been listening to this earphone and the Shure SE530 for a month or so. The SE530 is very decent, but I found the soundstage rather lacking, especially for an earphone that cost almost 4 times as much. On the Audio Techica, the audio is crisp and clear. With any good album, you're immediately transported away into another world.

The noise cancellation works very well. I can't hear quarreling couples in front of me on the bus. It's very portable, with the minor irritation being you're able to hear wires hitting against each other.

You can use rechargeable batteries with it, even if the manual says otherwise.

The audio quality makes up for the extra bulk you're carrying. This earphone is worth every cent of your money. Test it out if you're able to before you buy to be safe, but that's not really necessary.

Summary: Works great in a noisy equipment lab!
Comment: I recently purchased the ATH-ANC3 in-ear headphones for use in a noisy lab environment where I work (about 68-70dB). The lab consist of several hundred pieces of telecom equipment and servers, the noise level of the lab is equivalent of running your vacuum cleaner in your home. The ATH-ANC3 headphones work TERRIFIC!!! I am extremely impressed with them. They block out almost all of the equipment fan noise. The low end fan noise is completely blocked, and the high end server whine is almost completely blocked. These phones are noise-canceling, so don't expect other people's conversations to be completely blocked (you will still be able to hear when people talk, but you probably will not be able to understand them).

I have used them with my iPod Nano, and they work great. I typically have to listen to my iPod at 1/2 to 2/3 volume using the iPod earbuds to be able to hear the music in my lab; however, with the ATH-ANC3 headphones, I only have to turn my iPod to 1/4 or 1/3 volume (a vast improvement). If you are listening to music with the noise canceling on, it will all but block out EVERYTHING going around you.

Note: Make sure that you use the largest of the ear-buds possible for the noise-cancellation to work correctly

Summary: Will never fly again without those!
Comment: I bought those headphones 2 weeks ago. I was not expecting too much from the noise canceling system. I first tried them at work where there is a lot of noise coming from the vents and the A/C, and they are doing a great job at reducing this kind of noise.
I then went for a trip to France. I used the headphones and the adaptor in the in-flight entertaining system, and it was AMAZING! For the first time I enjoyed the movies in the plane. I had to set the volume to the minimum since it cancelled almost completely the background noise of the plane. After watching the movie, I kept the headphones on for the rest of the flight, and I slept like a baby.
I then took a train, and was able to enjoy the music from my iPod without being bothered by the babies crying of the noise of the train.
After a total of 20h in the plane and 6h in the train, the batteries are still good...
I will never travel without those guys anymore! Great buy!!!

Comment: I own them both now, the ANC7 Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones(over the ear) and the ANC3 (in-ear) and the in-ear ones ROCK!
-The skinny head audio jack fits iphone perfectly without the need for an adapter
-They are so small and save precious space in my backpack on these long flights. specially since I pack light, free space is important to me.
-runs on AAA Battery which is easily removable.
-The in-ear fit is great. NOTE: play with the three different ear bud sizes to see which one fits your best.
-More comfortable and over the year: I can sleep in these and can put my head against the pillow. My ears don't heat up like they do when wearing over the year ones.

Laundry room test:
Compared the ANC7(over_ear) with ANC3(in_ear). Both are about the same and I rather pick the in-ear ones.

Motorcycle test:
Yup, I commute on the rocket and on weekends ride all day. I listen to music inside my helmet, gets me in the zone and takes care of the loud after market race exhaust, which after all day riding can start to hurt.
