Summary: Not a Gimmick-Well Worth It
Comment: I'd always regarded electric toothbrushes as ridiculous marketing gimmicks. Then my dentist gave me one after I temporarily lost use of one of my arms due to an accident. Not being able to brush and floss properly one handed had caused me to develop pockets between teeth and gums as deep as 5 mm in some places. Yikes! Six months of using this brush made a tremendous difference in gum health. Every single pocket has diminished by at least 1 mm, most more than that, and the average depth is less than when I was still using a regular toothbrush with two functional arms. I'm very pleased and plan to continue using this brush.
I've been satisfied with battery life and bristle life. The first set of batteries lasted me about 4 months. They don't die all at once; the brush just gets slower, so it took me longer and longer to clean my teeth. The wear indicators on the bristles lasted about six months, which is longer than I would have kept a standard toothbrush.
