Customer Rating: Summary: Hate it Comment: I recently purchased this item in a store because it was all that was available. My daughter already has the munchkin one and it has worked great. However, we moved and due to her new room layout, we needed another bed rail. This safety first rail is horrible. It was a pain in the neck to put together. And it has this bar that lays against your child's mattress. I don't get it at all, so uncomfortable if they roll onto it. I guess it's to force them to roll away, but still. When they have a twin bed there's only so much room. I am completely disappointed in this purchase. It's enormous, bulky, and difficult to operate, very difficult to put together. Most importantly, I hate that bar on her bed. Customer Rating: Summary: Just what we needed Comment: I love this bed rail because it clamps on to the mattress and can be adjusted based on mattress thickness. Also, it is very stable. The bed rail also folds out to 180 degrees so you don't need to remove the whole thing when it's time for your child to climb in or out of bed. The part that clamps on top of the mattress is lined with a bit of cushioning so it doesn't hurt your child. But I just put small pillows over it for additional comfort.
The only problem is if you have a platform bed that has raised sides, the bed rail legs that go under the mattress will be sitting at an angle therefore raising the bed on one side. One way to remedy this is to get a boxspring.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Bed Rail Comment: We've used this bed rail on our master bed (we co-sleep) for nearly five years and it is fantastic. I love that it fits snug on top of the mattress (instead of other rails that go flush against the side of the mattress). Customer Rating: Summary: So far, it is annoying. Comment: I just tucked my daughter into her new twin bed. I installed this bedrail. It has huge letters on the last instruction in the manual (the one in which you actually lock the rail into place) DO NOT OVERLOAD. I assume this means locking it down too hard. Right now if I push on it seems too loose to me but I don't want to "OVERLOAD".
Putting this mother together wasn't exactly fun. The two main poles, the ones at the top and bottom of the rails are hard to get to lock into place and you can't see what you are doing because they are covered with fabric.
So tomorrow I will try to get it tighter. I think that if she rolls into the rail she will not fall off. I am pretty sure that her own weight will keep her on, but I would like to be more sure of that.
I might change my rating if I figure something else out that maybe I was doing wrong. the "unlocked" and "locked" window on the side is a nice thing to have if I can just get it to stay on "locked" So far it is hovering in the middle but I am afraid to "OVERLOAD".
