Customer Rating: Summary: Great maximum sun block protection Comment: I absolutely love the way this product applies. It is smooth, creamy, non-greasy and rubs in quick and completely! I have terrible sun spots on my arms from years of sun exposure as a youth. So now I use this on my arms everyday as both a moisturizer and sun block. Also on my neck which is very sensitive and often exposed due to v-necklines. This product contains Mexoryl SX. A revolutionary ingreadient not contained in most products sold (especially over the counter) here in the US. I first heard about it on the Today show about three years ago and have been using it ever since. Mexoryl SX protects from UVA, UVB and short UVA rays. Customer Rating: Summary: worth it, if you can afford it Comment: I have been using this product for several years, as I have very sensitive, fair skin and had skin cancer a few years ago. I first purchased it on a trip to Europe, and have been buying it online since. I used it in Hawaii, where we were in the sun and the water almost all day every day. They do say to reapply every few hours and after swimming, but I did not, as I am lazy. I applied it once, in the morning. However, I did not tan or burn at all. It is very water and sweat resistant. It does go on a little greasy, but if you wait a few minutes after applying, that goes away. I used to use the "fluide extreme visage" on my face, and this on my body, but have been using this on my face and body now (to save a little money), and it works great. (The visage also worked great, but is the same price for a smaller bottle, and it is a thinner consistency and didn't last long.) It is pricey, but lasts well and works. Also -- others, such as Umbrelle, claim to be the same, but cheaper, but they are NOT the same. La Roche Posay contains Mexoryl XS and XL, while Umbrelle only contains one (XL, I think), so this provides a broader range of UV protection. The only other brand I have found containing both types of Mexoryl is L'oreal Solar Expertise, which is much cheaper, but only goes to SPF 30. I have used it with success, also, though, but haven't used it near water because of the lower SPF. Customer Rating: Summary: Not very sweat or water proof Comment: I bought this Anthelios lotion because of the newer UV A & B protection ingredients approved and now allowed in the U.S. It seems to work ok when you are dry, but I got red playing heavy tennis in Florida and surfing as well. I suggest reading the Australian or Surfing forums about sunscreen and skin cancer. I am now using other products recommended on these sights that are made for surfing and stay on better when playing tennis for 4-5 hours in hot Florida. I usually do not recommend protects- people may think I'm a retailer or something, but the Hawaiian Is. Creations which was started by surfers in Hawaii or Australia goes on thick and stayed on tacky. It comes in a little yellow bottle. Does not sting the eyes either. The Anthelios brands go on dry and does not stay on when wet or sweaty very well for me. I use them for regular day use though when I don't expect to sweat.
