Customer Reviews:
Customer Rating: Summary: Slight improvement over standard earbuds Comment: Pros: Good Bass and Farily Comfortable.
Cons: Not $100 Good.
This is a comparison to the standard earbuds that come with the iPod Touch, SE110's and the Bose in ear headphones. The Bose (which I just returned) had good BASS to them but they had really flat & muddy sounding highs & mids. The SE110's are fairly comfortable with varying ear pieces to create the proper fit. This is very important. You need to create the proper seal to get the best sound and sound isolation. The sound is really only slightly better than the standard earbuds. That's because it blocks outside noise (which the earbuds don't). I wouldn't say these are worth $70 more than the standard earbuds (which cost $30). Just a slight improvement across the board. The sound is equal and clean (from Bass to Mids to Highs). If your looking for sound isolation and only a slight improvement over standard earbuds these might be for you.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sound great, block out sound very well Comment: Prior to purchasing these, I owned the Bose Triport In-ear before I accidentally broke off the connector; the sound on those is good but the wires feel flimsy, the cord is not long enough, and they allowed too much background noise in. I was hesitant to go with these because I'm not used to having something in my ear canal and thought they would hurt. However I can now say that I prefer these Shure SE110 earphones over the Bose and they don't hurt; I'm actually using the foam pieces that come with them, I didn't have to swap them out with some of the other pieces, they are a good fit. Once you get them in, they are definitely sound isolating and feel as if you have ear plugs in; they are well worth the money in my opinion. The earphones come with an extension cable which is a great option and a very nice carrying case with room for the additional ear pieces and volume control and airline adapter if you happen to buy those extra accessories which I have and work great. If you're looking to upgrade your earphones that came with your device, you will notice the difference with these. Customer Rating: Summary: Over-rated. Comment: I decided to try out a Shure earbud because of their name in the industry. What a disappointment! The mid-range is pretty good. But when the music hits higher or lower frequency ranges, the sound becomes quite distorted. There are much better noise isolation earbuds at the $50 price range. I'm going back to Sony, a brand I've continuously used and liked for years for headphones, especially earbuds. Customer Rating: Summary: STEP DOWN -- NEWER IS NOT BETTER Comment: I've been a LONG TIME Shure fanatic. Been living with the E2Cs for well over 6 years. I was very excited to hear about the new "improved" se110s. Until that is, I put them on. I know all about the techniques of in the ear headphones, and how to adjust them for the maximal sound. The FIRST pair of these I returned the next day. Why, cuz to me it sounded like one of the speakers (the right speaker) was defective. Music was clearly distorted. So, Amazon very kindly send me an exchange and when I tried them, I thought, at first, the problem was solved. Not so. What I sadly finally realized was that these new headphones have no midrange capabilities above a certain volume level. I'm not talking about nosebleed levels, but I am talking about serious listening levels. I had my original E2Cs handy for a side by side comparison, and the difference was absolutely clear. Or, I should say muddy, even after a full day of "burn-in" where I left my ipod on all night with the phones in. These se110s do have a lot going for them in terms of "spaciousness" and "musicality", but once you pass a certain decibel level, it's all distorted misery from there. Very, very disappointed. Now I'm afraid to even try the higher-up model ... Shure, what's happened?????????? Customer Rating: Summary: The Most Uncomfortable Earphones EVER Comment: After my pair of V-MODAs broke for the second time and not wanting to deal with another 8 weeks while a replacement pair came, I went looking for a new pair of sound isolating headphones. A lot of reviews said that these Shure's were worth the money and that the sound was amazing so I bought a pair.
Don't get me wrong, the sound quality is great, but no quality is worth the level of uncomfortability that I went through. Maybe my ears are small? I have no idea but I was in pain when I would put the head phones in and take them out. Additionally, the wire itself is so clunky that whenever it would brush against your chest, you hear it and really breaks up the quality of sound. These Shures lasted about 4 days before I couldnt deal with the ear piece or the clunkiness of the wire.
If you have big ear canals, the Shures will probably be a good investment but if you aren't a total audiophile, I'd go with someone a little more simple and less bulky.
