Summary: Read the Warning Label
Comment: When they say do not plug into an extension cord, they really mean it. Problem is, I did not read it. How often does any one read the label on an everyday product? First had it plugged into an extension cord in the living room. This lasted for a couple of days till on evening I heard a pop and smelled smoke. The cord was on fire. After testing the heater in the wall socket like someone suggested it worked so ofcourse I figured it was the cord and not the heater. I plugged it in again into a surge protector. (I ride the little yellow bus;)) What happened, I'm sure you are wondering. Needless to say it now remains unplugged.

Summary: extra blankets please
Comment: only if standing within 2 feet can you actually feel heat being blown out of the unit. The unit is very attractive, and has nice features including a remote control, but if you want to stay warm, you'd be better of setting the unit on fire.. although it is mostly plastic :) Perhaps it can serve as a coat rack, in either case, I would not recommend it.

Summary: LASKO SPACE HEATER - BOUGHT TWO
Comment: We try to reduce our heating bills by keeping upstairs doors closed, setting the furnace thermostat down and using space heaters for the room we are in. Last year I tried several space heaters. All but 2 stopped working. This year I bought the LASKO heater. After a month of using it I ordered another. We use them constantly. What we love about it: the base and shape of it, extremely quiet, heats a small room well, the timer feature and remote are very nice. Dislike: haven't found anything yet. If these continue working all winter, I will be very pleased. So far we have ran them to death and had no problems with them.

Summary: Quiet Efficency
Comment: I bought this unit to supplement the heating in our second floor master bedroom. It's a fairly large room with a vaulted ceiling that is located right over the garage. The two air registers on the floor aren't quite adequate enough to keep the room comfortable when the temps outside drop below freezing.

This Lasko unit works perfectly. It's a surprisingly quiet unit that puts out enough heat to do the job or raising the temps in the room at night enough that I don't get goose bumps while changing into my jammies. The remote control is handy for turning the unit on/off and setting the temperature (but only in high mode) from bed. The oscillating feature is well executed; the sweep is perfect at about 80-90 degrees and, again, quiet with no clicking or ratcheting sounds.

The unit is fairly light and is easy to move around. The molded handle on the back makes relocating it a breeze. The long cord makes it easy to find a convenient spot for it. And the design should fit in with most decor.

The only reason I knocked this unit down to 4-stars was because of two things. First, the automatic temperature feature only works on high. This is great for large rooms, but using this in a smaller room may only require the low setting to get to the desired temp. And on that setting, the auto feature doesn't work. Second, it would be nice to have a no-fan setting, sort of like a radiator. But that's just me.

Overall, a great little auxiliary room heater with some nice features at a good price.
