Summary: Great - but why the price increase? Comment: Exactly what I wanted to brush up on my piano skills. I don't use all the extras (different instrument sounds, etc.), but they seem to work fine, too. I bought this in March for less than $140. At the time of this review (two months later), the price is approx $280. Why the increase? If the price stays high, then consider purchasing from Best Buy (and don't forget to get an adapter). Customer Rating: Summary: advanced and fun product Comment: The sound that comes from this unit is phenomenal. And the grand piano setting is really lovely; it really does sound like a grand piano - you won't be disappointed! There is a teaching aspect to this unit that I have yet to be able to fully appreciate. Maybe I just need some easier songs? I haven't played the piano since I was a kid and I never got very far with my lessons. My skill is really at an elementary level, so I had to go out and buy a book to assist with catching me up - the learning programs on the Yamaha were too advanced for me to start with as a re-beginner. Additionally, I purchased the stand and sustain pedal separately, and they both work perfectly with my unit. I also have yet to record or hook it up to my computer, so I can't comment on that feature yet. Customer Rating: Summary: Nice Price, Nice Keyboard Comment: I received this on Christmas as a gift from my mother-in-law. This is the first piano I've ever owned. I never took lessons and taught myself how to read sheet music. The tone is extremely nice and I love the touch response. I can play songs from "Unfaithful" by Rihanna to "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey and it sounds like the real deal. The only complaint is that it has a 2-track recorder. Would be nice to have an 8 or 16-track. I'd even settle for a 4-track. Also, it can only hold 5 custom made songs. I'll need to get a cable to run to my computer so I can record to that instead. Customer Rating: Summary: very enjoyable instrument Comment: The keyboard is very enjoyable. All of the instrument voices are authentic-sounding. It was a good buy. Customer Rating: Summary: great, lightweight, relatively cheap Comment: I don't have a lot of experience using keyboards... I got this one because I used to play the piano more when I had easy access to one and I didn't want to lose all that I had learned. It's a great product for the price. I really like the touch sensitive keys and the multitude of various instrument sounds that you can use. I haven't used any other brands with similar features, but I would think that finding another model with the same features and quality for a better price would be pretty tough to do. If you're not in the mood to spend $400+ on a model that has weighted keys (they feel like real piano keys) then go ahead and get this one.
