Customer Rating: Summary: I never thought a toothbrush could ruin my life! Comment: Wow, what an awful purchase. First of all, the motor on this thing is ridiculous. The toothpaste will not even stay on the brush! Literally I put the toothpaste on and I turn on the brush and the paste falls off in 2 seconds. Next, when I put the toothbrush to my mouth it tickes so much it is on the border of being painful. I dont know how anyone can use this brush on the inner part of their mouth. And as I brush, specs of water and paste go flying and my mirror has spots all over it. What a disaster this toothbrush is and I recommend everyoen spend $5 on a nice brush and not $100, which is ridiculous. Just floss and use mouthwash and a regular toothbrush. Customer Rating: Summary: Would give it 5 stars BUT... Comment: I can't. In fact, I debated about whether to give it three. In the end, I like more about it than I don't, so the three stars.
1) the cleaning features are nice - especially the new "Go" setting for a quicker (i.e. after meal) brush. They work as well as I would expect - which is to say my teeth feel "dentist clean" afterwards.
2) I love the UV cleaning feature.
3) I really like the new smaller head that comes with this model - great for getting the back teeth.
4) The way the heads attach to the handle is much improved over the old model.
5) It comes with a much smaller travel charger - finally!
Sadly there is a HUGE design flaw that is tough to forgive. The button you use to change from one cleaning speed to another is exactly where you grasp the handle of the toothbrush, and unlike the power button, is very easy to depress. This means you are brushing along in "clean" when all of a sudden you are in "gum massage" mode. Not sure how this got past the design team as it is not at all a subtle flaw - and I should mention that both my husband and I have this issue, so it is not a hand size or problem unique to my grip.
So, as long as you are willing to completely relearn how you hold your toothbrush this is a great brush....otherwise, stick with the classic Sonicare.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sonicare -- Good for your chicklets Comment: Have been using the Sonicare RS 930 for a couple of months now and am very pleased. This thing really vibrates fast which gives you a "dentist cleaning" feel after brushing. I like the sanitizer feature for the brush heads too. I also find the Quadpacer feature helpful to make sure you brush all "four quadrants". I used to have a Cybersonic which vibrated faster than anything else on the market, but find this new Sonicare every bit as good if not better due to the sanitizer and many programming options available. Customer Rating: Summary: Philips SONICARE FlexCare R980 Electric Toothbrush Comment: This is the absolute best electric toothbrush on the market. I've tried several over the years and the FlexCare R980 cleans better than both the SoniCare Elite and the Oral-B Triumph.
It is comfortable to use and it easily gets to those hard to reach places. My teeth have never been cleaner nor healthier.
It's so light and compact that I take it with me whenever I travel. I'd be lost without it.
If you're thinking about buying one, take it from me. The R980 is the best...hands down.
Happy brushing! Customer Rating: Summary: Great device. Comment: For a while I had been meaning to buy an electric toothbrush to try and remedy my tendency to brush too hard (worn gumlines and teeth... eek!) My last visit to the dentist made up my mind, and I bit the bullet (is that bad for gums?) and bought this toothbrush.
First time tickled a bit, after that I was already used to it. The 'adjustment period' is good. After I using the brush, I do have to say my teeth felt really clean, and I could swear whiter!
Although this seems to be the best brush on the market right now, I ultimately decided to get it because it was the most environmentally friendly one on the market due to it's battery type. For the same reason I did NOT get the UV head cleaner - the bulb has mercury. Plus, this is really stupid marketing ploy - are you daft enough to shell out for a UV bulb to save your life? ...don't do it! ;)
Another plus is, this brush can be used for any world voltage, which is great when I eventually return to my homeland of 240V@50Hz (where my old Oral B remains sadly deserted)
The quad pacer is mildly helpful, but a little weird that they decided to just turn the brush off at the end - quite often you're still doing something, brushing tooth surface, etc.
A more useful feature than the UV bulb would be if brush could tell you if you are brushing too hard, like Oral B. (I don't think any sonic-style toothbrush can do this yet)
The toothbrush is overall quiet, if it's not your mouth that it's in :) Since I share this with my partner, two full-sized heads would've been nice, but I guess having the two types is handy for many. This obviously won't sway your purchase decision though....
Overall, this brush is fabulous, and I'd definitely buy it again.
