This 3rd generation automatic trashcan is the only trash can with the automatic space saving design. The new 52-Liter Touchless Trashcan SX model uses the latest sensor technology and patented space-saving lid opening design. As your hand or debris enters the zone, 6-inches from the infrared sensor on top of the trash can, the lid will automatically slide open: no up/down lid motion means more capacity in less space!

The lid will remain open if debris or hand is within the 6-inch range of the infrared sensor. Three seconds after your hand moves away from the lid, it closes automatically! At the top front of the lid there, are open and close buttons for manual operation. There is also an on/off power switch on the back of the kitchen waste can.

This automatic trashcan fits any regular 13 or 18 gallon trash bag. It features a bag-retainer ring to secure and hide the trash bag inside. This 100% touch-free trash can creates a germ free, odor free, automated environment. It keeps your hands clean while you are cooking or playing with your children. It also helps prevent contamination, which reduces the threat of certain illnesses and infections!

Summary: Bad design rips bags
Comment: I had owned the other version of this, so this looked like a great variation. There is a rim inside that retains the ring holding the bag in. The problem is right beneath this rin, the mounting screws are exposed and impede rfemoval of a full bag, plus snag it and rip it on the way out. What a terrible design. Pass this one up, the pne where the lid flips up works just fine, so I am surprised they did not think this one though or test it.

Summary: Touch Free Trash Can - Big Mistake
Comment: I purchased two of this trash can and am very disappointed. The bags always get caught when you try to take them out and they rip. The only way for this not to happen is if you take them out when the garbage bag is 1/4 of the way full and you have not put any odd shapes in the trash. That is just a waste because then you have a garbage bag that is not even full. I would not recommend buying this at all.

Summary: Only get this if you enjoy fighting your trashcan
Comment: We spent this exhorbitant amount of money for a trashcan because we thought it would be durable and better to ward off the family dog. It arrived in good condition, and the sensor works great, even though that opening noise can get to you after a day of it. The main gripe is that the trashcan ripped the bag apart whenever I had to take the bag out of it! It is designed with plastic parts that jut out towards the bag making EVERY time I changed the bag a wrestling match resulting in a ripped trashbag and a mess to clean. Absolutely the worst thing we have spent our money on for the house. Do NOT buy this trash can!!!!

Comment: This trashcan is the most diificult, useless thing I have ever owned!! The lip on the can tears open the bag EVERY time I empty it!!!! So, now I am double-bagging my trash and am ready to put this in the trash as well! All you can throw in the can are paper towels and junk mail. Everyhting else rips the bag. BEWARE!!!!
