This 3rd generation automatic trashcan is the only trash can with the automatic space saving design. The new 52-Liter Touchless Trashcan SX model uses the latest sensor technology and patented space-saving lid opening design. As your hand or debris enters the zone, 6-inches from the infrared sensor on top of the trash can, the lid will automatically slide open: no up/down lid motion means more capacity in less space!

The lid will remain open if debris or hand is within the 6-inch range of the infrared sensor. Three seconds after your hand moves away from the lid, it closes automatically! At the top front of the lid there, are open and close buttons for manual operation. There is also an on/off power switch on the back of the kitchen waste can.

This automatic trashcan fits any regular 13 or 18 gallon trash bag. It features a bag-retainer ring to secure and hide the trash bag inside. This 100% touch-free trash can creates a germ free, odor free, automated environment. It keeps your hands clean while you are cooking or playing with your children. It also helps prevent contamination, which reduces the threat of certain illnesses and infections!

Summary: A great idea, but unreliable
Comment: This product looks very elegant operates well. Unfortunately, it failed in operation after two months due to a poorly designed gear mechanism. We attempted to purchase a new gear, but were told that our only recourse was a new top - at $45 plus shipping it seemed better to go back to the traditional trash can.

Comment: i've had this trash can for 2 weeks now. Battery operated. No problems so far. it's doing what it's supposed to do. I looks very sleek, attention catcher and it matched my kitchen appliances. great addition. functional and sanitizing.

Comment: Complete junk.

Lid gets stuck opening and closing. It's not "touchless" if you have to hit the buttons to force open/close.

Unit makes a ridiculous amount of noise when operating. It's LOUD.

Bags rip/tear when removing as they catch on the sharp edges of the can lid. You can try to cover the inner lid with duck tape but it's still a pain to get full bags out.

It's too big for normal sized trash bags. So you have to put something at the bottom of the can to fill the space (otherwise bags just fall down when they are heavy).

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!!

Comment: I give this product zero stars. Not only does the touchless sensor not work all the time. It almost never works. The cans design makes it VERY difficult to remove garbage in a trash bag. The bag gets hung up and tars when trying to remove. Summary: Not worth the hassel
Comment: I purchased this trash can in March with high hopes. I have a family of 5 and so trash is taken out basically every other day, and with this trash can it is a 2 person job to do. The lip that is on it has teeth that grabs the trash that pokes out, which in turn lets the bag rip if you pull too hard. My last touchless can was never a problem at all. I would never buy this can again, the aggravation is just not worth it. :(
