Summary: Harry is a good hearted family film
Comment: This is one of many movies made during a time when Hollywood was trying to make some family friendly movies. Movies like Beethoven, Honey I Shrunk the kids, Little monsters, batteries not included, etc. They were all for the most part successful in there purpose, to create family entertainment.

For some reason Harry and the Hendersons has kind of fallen through the cracks and is not talked about in the same conversation with the others, and for the life of me I don't know why. It really is a good movie.

John Lithgow plays the father in this film and does a good job. Up to this point in his career he was mostly the bad guy,(raising cain, ricochet, cliffhanger, Santa Clause), so to see him as a good father in a comedic role is refreshing. He does a great job. Later you see him really use that part of his acting spectrum in the TV series, 3rd Rock from the Sun, but this is where it all begins for Lithgow.

Orene Anderson is very funny, and Don Ameche plays a great supporting role.

FOr the families looking for a good dvd to watch together you for sure want to pick this up.
