Editorial Review:
The DUALjack is a wireless extension of the telephone jack and plugs into any standard power outlet. The DUALjack has a built-in feature to ensure that voice calls initiated from any telephone in the house are given priority over modem/data calls initiated via a DUALjack Extension unit. The Intercom capability is useful in situations where there are two or more Extension units in the house. The Intercom function is disabled when any Extension unit is engaged in a call with the outside telephone line. If a telephone attached to an Extension unit is engaged in a voice call with the outside telephone line, a barge-in tone will be heard on that phone when a second Extension unit goes off-hook. Up to two Extension units can be joined together with the outside line at any one time. Energy efficient design saves electricity DUALjack works with - Corded & Cordless Phones, Answering Machines, Fax Machines, PC Modems, Digital Video Recorder / Tivo, Satelite/DirectTV/Dish, VoIP Adapters DUALjack is compatible with - Caller ID, Call waiting, 3-way calling, Conference calling, Speed dialing
Customer Reviews:
Customer Rating: Summary: RTX DUALjack Review Comment: The RTX DUALjack RTX3241S works as advertised. It does cost more than other jacks but it's real wireless capability made sense to me. I have it hooked up to provide a phone connection to my DISH DVR. It has been working for several weeks now flawlessly. It was very easy to set up. Customer Rating: Summary: Worked as advertised - Careful that the item included is not the older version Comment: After doing a decent amount of research into this product and the new DECT 6.0 version that was shown on the box picture I ordered the product. However, I received the older 2.4GHz unit. After talking with the company that sold it to me, they confirmed that they only sold the older unit but that I could return it without penalty.
However, I chose to open it and try it out and it has worked very nicely. I am actually sending phone service across a driveway to another house next door and the quality has been decent. We have sometimes heard clicks on the line but usually it is fine. There is about a 1/2 second delay in the process but have not heard complaints from the other parties about this in the call from their end. I am considering buying another set for use elsewhere in the house and even buying a third set and just resyncing the receiver to work with the first set I purchased. Customer Rating: Summary: DualJack Comes Through Comment: When a client called to run a phone line from her basement to her home office through a stone wall, I blanched. The work required to run the line exceeded my initial cost estimates by several times. Searching online for an alternative, I came across DualJack and was impressed by the overwhelmingly positive response it garnered from users.
Once installed - and working properly (the dip switches had to be set precisely for the brand of phone being used) - the noise level on the line was no worse than you'd expect from a long line length. Only the faintest hiss could be heard in the background, and was entirely undetectable during a phone call.
I highly recommend the DualJack - it comes through with flying colors.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works like a champ - doesn't like the FAX machine, though Comment: I bought the Dual Jack after reading all of the reviews, and have to echo them all!
The most time was taken opening the horrid plastic that all products ship in today -- that really rigid plastic that you can't seem to open with a steak knife or kitchen shears without cutting your finger off.
Setting that aside, once opened, they are basically plug and play.
I am using the cords supplied by the manufacturer, and my FAX modem doesn't seem to like the set-up. I would mess about with other cords but I ended up getting a guy from Comcast out here for $20 to install a new 16MB highspeed line and figure who cares at that point... Customer Rating: Summary: Works as described Comment: Even in rough RF environments the phone line extender works. Used as a fax line extender in a multi story building. No complaints. Setup is easy.
