Comment: I have just purchased the thermometer. I bought this due to the fact that regular thermometers take too much time and are difficult to read. I tested it, and it appeared to work just fine. The time required was very short, as compared with a regular thermometer, and the reading appeared to be correct as compared with a regular thermometer. I am not an expert, but it works fine for me.

Summary: left ear warmer than right ear?
Comment: i figured this would be a good thermometer because my pediatrician's office uses this brand as well. it is definitely easier to take a baby's or child's temperature this way than rectal or oral (obviously not for a baby), but it makes me wonder why the readings fluctuate. by fluctuate, i don't mean that one reading is 0.1 degree warmer/colder than the other, but up to 1.5 degrees! so, i don't know if that is just an error in my particular thermometer, but... other than that, it's an ok thermometer.

Comment: The combination of light and sound here (which may be on other models as well, but isn't mentioned in the product descriptions) seems appealing. But it promises to take a reading "within seconds", whereas a comparable Thermoscan model (that costs scores of clams less) promises to do it within ONE second.
