Comment: This pad works great. I almost didn't purchase it after reading the reviews about it not getting hot enough. These people are crazy. The pad gets hot enough that you cannot place it on bare skin. Definitely a good buy-

Comment: I have athritis and I have pain in my left leg especially at night so the pad really helps. sometimes the 2 hour shut off wakes me up and I restart it. This is a good safety device even though sometimes it frustrates me.

Summary: Poor Quality!
Comment: I purchased this product to ease my tense muscles. I only used it a few times when the control began flashing red, no response to any buttons pressed (including inability to turn it off) and the heat function no longer operated. I was really bummed so I contacted Amazon and was able to send it in for a replacement- Yea! so I thought... So, I was happy to have a working heating pad again. I used this one at least several times or so, then it did the same thing as the first one. It stopped working. It has already been over 30 days so Amazon refused to take it back despite it being a defective item. Instead, they only could offer the number for Sunbeam. They were closed when I called, but if anyone else is having this problem, which I would think it HIGHLY LIKELY considering my bad experience with TWO of these heating pads you can contact Sunbeam at 1800 892 7684 My experience with this heating pad has been disappointing and I would not recommend this heating pad to others. In addition to not working more than several uses, the blue fabric is an unpleasant texture and appears to be quality.

Summary: Lead on the Cord!
Comment: Most people don't notice, but the cord has a tag near the plug that warns you have to wash your hands after use, because it contains a chemical known in CA to produce cancer and birth defects.

After you're plugged in, how are you supposed to wash your hands? And just why does a health product contain lead, especially when it is impossible to use this without touching the cord?

Apparently, traces of lead are in many products that we use, and this tag is a requirement just for the state of CA. But is it really possible there are no cords that don't contain lead? A little here, a little there, maybe that does have some connection with rising cancer cases...

Otherwise, this would have gotten good marks. It has these great stretching straps with velcro, which means you can attach it anywhere. Including on the body of the pad itself, which means you can tighten it a lot.

And it does heat well. For people who complain otherwise, in some cases it might be the injury itself that is preventing them from feeling the heat. As any physical therapist will tell you, inflammation and other things affect how much we tolerate heat. When I started with this, I needed to go to the highest setting (7+). Now more than 4 makes me uncomfortable. Plus the underside of my arm tolerates the same temperature less well, so I put a towel. Beware, you can get a slight burn if this is too hot, especially if it touches bare skin. They say that clearly.

Finally, I use it for the shoulder. This is the one drawback. Though the straps are a great feature, this still does not attach easily or comfortably on the shoulder. It keeps slipping off. And unless you like getting electrocuted, pins are a very bad idea (they are clearly warned against).

So I wish they will make one product that can fit the shoulder specifically; there is clearly a market niche for that.

That, and find something that does not cause cancer to use on their cords...

Comment: Being pregnant with round ligament and back pain, this has been my savior to combat the aches and pains. I have no idea which heating pad the reviewers used who said it didn't get hot enough! I used this on high on my back (through clothing, not bare skin) and it was so uncomfortably hot I had to turn it down. Yes, the heat adjustor is large and clunky, but what are you doing when you're using this that it matters? A little on the pricey side, but well worth the money.
