4711, was created by Muehlens for Men and Women in 1792. It is the result of the following top fragrance Notes: bergamot, lemon and orange. The middle notes are: rosemary and rose and the base of the fragrance is: musk, petitgrain and neroli. 4711 is recommended for casual and sport use.

Comment: 4711, the original Eau de Cologne is currently in its eighth generation - In a base of dilute ethanol (70-90%), Eau de Cologne contains a mixture of citrus oils including oils of lemon, orange, tangerine, bergamot, lime, grapefruit and neroli. It can also contain oils of lavender, rosemary, thyme, petitgrain (orange leaf), and jasmine.

This is my favorite, so hard to find now days. After so many hundred years in continuous production (Launched in 1709) this Men's aftershave scent (and women's product also) is so nice and never over-bearing, even spashing so much on. Love at 1st scent!

Women should know that if they use this 4711 line of Women's perfum, bath soap etc. that the men will melt before them.

I was so glad to be able to find it I bought a whole pack so I can never run out. I was down to my last drops in the original bottle after depleting the last 4 Sears had on the shelf before shutting down the perfume counters a few years back. I have looked long and hard for it in most upscale stores since and usually most perfume counters and the experts running them do not even know the history of the original Eau de Cologne.
