Customer Reviews:
Customer Rating: Summary: Discontinued for a good reason Comment: This product has been discontinued most likely because the on/off button keeps falling off. I have had to replace three under warranty. The first two times, they were accusatory and said their research showed toothpaste was breaking down the rubber. Huh?
The last time, they sent the R710 to replace it, which is not comparable to the 9500. The R710 has only one brush head, no cord storage in the base, and no sensitive setting. The R732 has the extras including two brush heads, but Sonicare refused to send it.
So I have to go out and buy three brush heads (they don't sell singles)and live with a lesser product because Sonicare makes bad products and doesn't honor their warranty. I'll never buy a Sonicare again. Customer Rating: Summary: Planned Obsolescence Comment: Here are two things Phillips will not tell you about their Sonicare toothbrushes and heads.
1) The collar that holds the toothbrush to the handle will disintegrate in a couple of months. That's what prompted this review, because they would not replace mine after it fell apart two weeks after purchasing a replacement.
They manufacturer these things to disintegrate so you will continue to buy replacements - planned obsolescence. However, I suspect their China supplier is skimping on the plastic specifications and they fall apart in weeks instead of months. (Do you think China would really do that?)
2) UNPLUG your base until you need to charge the toothbrush. If you charge it up overnight, then unplug the base, the toothbrush will work for four brushings per day for about a month. Then, when it signals or stops, plug the base in to charge it.
This method will allow your toothbrush to work for five years or longer. If you keep the base plugged in all the time, these NiCad batteries develop memory and will stop functioning after 18 to 24 months.
A bonus, if you travel a lot as I do, you don't have to pack the charger. Just make sure it's topped off and you're good for a month's vacation. Customer Rating: Summary: It's good. Comment: I brought this for my boyfriend who has a lot bleeding when he brush his teeth. It helps a little bit but not that much and obvious as we expected. Customer Rating: Summary: Philips Sonicare E9500 Comment: I have used Sonicare toothbrush for more than 2 years with total satisfaction. The E series has desirable features. A slow start to allow acceptance of the sound and vibration lasts two weeks. Thereafter, it delivers full intensity. A timer sounds beep after 30 seconds to encourage treating each of four quadrants of the mouth thoroughly. The effect is amazingly clean teeth. My hygenist reports lower plaque buildup, even after 12 months. This purchase was for the double head model as gifts for my son and daughter-in-law. They like it. And as usual, Amazon came through with timely direct shipping to them. Philips is always first choice and Amazon first source. Customer Rating: Summary: Cleans well but dirty, short lived Comment: It's a shame that this toothbrush does not deserve a higher rating because basically it does a a very good job of cleaning your teeth. However, after only a year's use every other day the plastic threads of the brush have turned a disgustingly yellow color, like they have been
smoking, despite the fact that the product was thorougly cleaned after every use. Furthermore, thirteen months after purchase it won't work properly because the brush gets jammed after it is tightened on the handle.
