This Wusthof Knife Life Sharpener is a two stage knife sharpener with a built-in scissors sharpener. The carbide side sets your knife's edge, while the ceramic side finishes the edge. The scissors sharpener will sharpen both blades for left- or right-handed scissors at the same time. The E-Z grip handle and non-slip rubber feet helps to keep the sharpener in place and safe to use. The Knife Life Sharpener is for both right and left handed use.

Comment: The sound created when using this product is similar to that of nails on a chalkboard, so be prepared to endure that aspect of the sharpening process. Otherwise, I have found the sharpener to work quite well. It does not perform as well on very dull knives, but I sharpened my tomato slicing knife and it now slices through tomatoes with ease.

Comment: I'm always looking for quality tools at great prices and this is one of those. It's easy to use, stable and sharpens well. The dual function (for knives and scissors) is great.

My only user suggestion is that when you sharpen your knives, have a cutting board or a wood board under the sharpener when you use it to protect your countertops. When you pull back through the sharpener with the knife, the tendency is to hit the counter or table with the tip of your knife because you are pulling and applying downward pressure at the same time.

Comment: Great product! I used this at work to sharpen all of our scissors which were all dull and we constantly had to replace. Everyone was very happy to have sharp scissors and our store will save money not having to replace scissors. Also environmentally better.

I use this at home as well in the kitchen on my cutco knives it works pretty good.

Comment: If the sharpening steel that came with your knifes just isn't cutting it (pun intended), then this sharpener is for you. One slot with steel for rough sharpening, one slot with ceramic rods for fine sharpening (I use this slot most of the time), and one slot for scissors (haven't used this one yet). Very easy to use, very stable, and VERY effective!

If you keep your knives sharp, it should last for years!
