Summary: excellent yogurt starter highly recommend it
Comment: This is a wonderful yogurt start to use. I have used it in cows milk and goats milk. 2 tsps to one quart of milk is what I use. I heat the milk slowly to 92-94 degrees on the stove. I then take it off the stove and add my start hand whipping it to blend in. I then pour it into my yogurt maker and leave it for the 24 hours that my yogurt maker takes. It will vary on yogurt maker machines as to how long it takes; mine just takes that long. This start makes very nice thick yogurt with regular milk. I don't use low fat or 2% as I like the yogurt thick. A person could add powdered milk to the milk before heating the milk to increase the thickness if they really wanted to. This is an excellent start. You do NOT have to use the oven to make it; that is another way to make it but the longer way. Always use the stove top. It is quick and fast just be sure you keep the heat on low. As you heat the milk it does heat up quickly ; you could end up having to put the pan in a water bath to cool it if you don't watch it carefully and temperature test it often. It only takes a few minutes to heat the milk to the needed temperature of 92-94. Do not go any higher or lower than that. Enjoy great homemade yogurt.
