Summary: Groovy. So Incredibly Groovy
Comment: I was in a New Age (previously known as head) shop looking for some incense. Generally I'd burn some Gonesh sandalwood or jasmine, and they're good but I'd get tired of the same old stuff and have to go look for something new. Well, this shop had an unbelievable selection of incense. It was hard to shop because the smell was overwhelming. But I noticed something a little different in all that mix.

Finally I got to the Nag Champa, held it up to my nose, and was simply amazed. It's just so right. I couldn't believe how drawn I was to it. I tried picking up some of the other amazing selections, but there isn't any other. I knew it when I smelled it. Spicy, floral, earthy. Different but not obnoxious. In my house it means quiet time, and it sets the mood.

If you're on the fence about trying it, just buy a small package. You'll know right away. I haven't bought anything else since, and I've gone through a couple kilos. I never get tired of this. And when people come over, they don't say, "What's that smell?" like they do when I've burned other incense.

Summary: Nag Champa means Quality
Comment: I'm probably not the most qualified person to write about incense. These sticks look like regular incense ( they're not the short dark ones that have a STRONG Scent that fills 3-4 rooms ). These Actually are quite nice, they burn a long time ( about 40 minutes ) and the scent will linger 12 or more hours after the stick has burned. Its a light scent so it stays local to the room its burned in, but in a central area, when passing by you can smell it... its a FANTASTIC scent, very tranquil. i think this is the best price you'll find for these particular type. One thing is that the packaging is not so good, so you may want to Vacuum Seal, or "ziplock" bag them so they stay fresh longer. For a small house or apartment these are perfect,(less than 1600 Sq FT). If you have a bigger house and want the scent to fill it you might want to find the dark short ones.(don't know who makes those).

Comment: This incense is definitely the best there is out there. It has a clean yet earthy smell. It's just the right amount of scent that is in no way overbearing or overpowering.

Give Nag a try. You'll never want to use anything else.

Comment: You can never be too sure when you order certain things over the internet. but for this price, I had to try it out. It was the real thing. I've had trouble with imitations but I was very pleased. Very fast shipping, too!!

Comment: I recently bought a few boxes of this at the less than wholesale, bargain basement price through Amazon. I guess I shouldn't have been totally surprised, but all of the incense was old, and some of it was very old. Luckily, since it was through Amazon, returning it was fairly painless. Every box was 2007 or older, and half or more were 2006 or older.

The older incense is harder or impossible to light and hard to keep lit, and you also have to use twice as much to get the same smell. Fresh Nag Champa is a light tan/yellowish color, and it's powdery and almost still wet. If it's darker and more of a black tint, then it's getting pretty old.

From what I've read and seen, you can tell by looking at the boxes for the 250 gram size. If the seal on each end is red, blue, and silver, then it's 2008. If the seals are all silver, then it's 2007 or older. If it has silver seals and has Aastha samples in it, then it's 2007, if it doesn't have the Aastha samples then it's even older than that. (Apparently this isn't consistent for other Nag Champa products, but it applies to the 250 gram box.)

Nag Champa is far and away my favorite incense and I burn it constantly. But I really want the fresh smell and ease of use, so this really wasn't all that great of a deal in the end.

I'm not saying that they're only selling old incense and it's not my intent to dissuade you from buying it, I hope by now they've got the 2008 (or whatever's current when you're reading this) in stock. But if you get it and it is old, you should return it and let Amazon know that you're dissatisfied with the products they're offering, as I did.
