Customer Rating: Summary: Have not received magazine yet. Comment: I would love to give a review on this purchase, while I bought this magazine subscription on 7/6/2008 I have not received any magazines yet, therefore I cannot review or rate it. Customer Rating: Summary: It's just ads. Comment: I regret giving this to my boyfriend as a birthday present. They said it might take 12 weeks to get it, but it actually took around 14 weeks, and only after I called and complained repeatedly. I was slightly rebuffed for a while, as apparently, 13 weeks is not too long to wait. The magazine itself is full of ads which might be useful to a professional photographers, but is in no way helpful to an enthusiast. Customer Rating: Summary: Shutterbug magazine Comment: Shutterbug is a great magazine for even the inexperienced photographers. The product reviews are great and the articles don't try to talk over your head. I am very pleased with Shutterbug. Customer Rating: Summary: Decent general photography magazine Comment: As any magazine that is dependend on advertisements, do not expect too critical articles. Reviews of products usually start with a description that comes straight from the product flyer including all kinds of bold claims. But the reviews themselves seem to be more neutral as compared to some other popular photography magazines.
There are of course many pages of advertisements from the various small and large retailers. Personally I think that is great, as I see it as information (what is on the market, etc). However if you see it as something distracting I'd advise to buy a couple of issues at the supermarket before commiting to a subscription (then again, a year subscription costs about as much as 3 single issues so who cares?)
All in all pleasant reading, not to deep, but I'm always happy when I see the latest issue in my mailbox. Customer Rating: Summary: Great Read Comment: I have been reading Shutterbug for a few months now and when I received the email from Amazon that it was available at a ridiculously low subscription rate, I jumped all over it. I received my first issue in the mail two days ago and I have read it from cover to cover once and am going back through it again. If you are truly interested in the world of photography and what is happening then this is a perfect magazine for you.
