Summary: Stepping to Pulsing Rhythmic Beats
Comment: With limited time to go to the gym, I've been trying out ways to work out at home and finally purchased the Reebok step system, which came with this video. It definitely possesses a different feel that most workout videos. I really like the lit platform and the cool strong moves performed by the muscular participants. I love the rhythmic percussions - they seem to mirror the pounding of my heart as Gin Miller gradually works me up to a sweat. To make the upper body segment more challenging, I hold 2 lb dumbbells. I've been doing step for many years and would've liked to see more complicated routines, but that's just me - I get easily bored. Gin also cues very well - which is a must for step aerobics. I've done this video several times and still enjoy it, and I always get a great workout by modifying the steps & adding power moves. Overall, a very nicely made video.

Summary: The Original revisited and still the best!
Comment: I first saw this video 10 years ago when step aeorobic was in its day. First off, this workout video is all business. I love that there's no annoying banter, or cheesily hyper people hooping & hollering. Now I do have those types of video in my library but, when I feel like getting right to work, this is the one I turn on. The moves are easy to get right off the bat, but they gradually become more intense as you repeat them. You'll actually start to feel the "burn" within ten minutes of the workout. The instructer's voice is steady and her intructions are clear and to the point (she runs through a move once before following through). The vibe just sooo cool with the African percusionists and crew preparing...they move almost Zen like. I usually do this workout late at night with one standing spotlight on(hey, that just me). When it's over, I feel good and energized not worn-out and exhausted. I highly recommend it.

Summary: Best I have found!
Comment: I have had this for a long time, through several fitness fits. It doesn't matter if you can only do the first 10 minutes or you go through the whole thing, it's a great tape! I agree with other reviewers of this and other exercise videos--having a perky, chatty, oh-so-cute person leading the exercises is ok and even amusing the first or maybe second run-through. After that, I want to hit them over the head with the step. Gin Miller is perfect. It's a just-do-it, you don't have to smile, workout. And I actually like the background as a nice break from the pastel set-looking appearance of the others. It adds to the "we're not cute little pixies here" feel of the thing.

Comment: I love this program! Step is my favorite type of aerobics, and Gin Miller is the best instructor. Her cues are perfectly timed, so you keep up and get all the intensity. I like her positive, but serious attitude--no sickening sweetness here. I never get tired of this video.

Summary: Best quality workout and production

I just exchanged this video with someone a few weeks ago and did it for the first time. The instruction is clear, the workout is easy to follow and the production values are top-notch. I have been exercising regularly for almost a year and a half, but I am still "choreography challenged". I'm usually afraid to do step videos because they invariably leave me tripping over my step or scratching my head about where I messed up. Not the case here. This video is definitely in the athletic category, and is hardly dancy at all. You won't be bored however, as Gin adds in enough variation with the arms as well as mixing and combining steps.

And you have to love Gin, even if she is just a "talking head" on a television screen in this video. Some of her humor still manages to sink in, and I found myself smiling during her instructions a couple of time (even as I was wondering how my pulse got so high).

I highly recommend this tape for anyone starting out with step.
