Customer Rating: Summary: TRUE LIFE EVENTS NOT RELATED WELL. Comment: Based upon dramatic incidents that took place in Columbus, Ohio, when a defense attorney fell in love with her imprisoned client and subsequently assisted him in escaping from custody, this film, shot largely in and about Columbus, features Stephanie Zimbalist as lovelorn lawyer Diana Rockland, along with Alec Baldwin as the sociopathic convict who manipulates her sensibilities. Made for television, this production is saddled with many earmarks of such a work and in general is a fairly routine affair with the exception of telling performances from the two leads, unfortunately softened by slovenly production values and flawed continuity, in addition to a shallow script that is itself not helped by immoderate cutting and editing. Initiation of the relationship between the lovers/fugitives is barely made manifest and the extensive personality alterations required to justify motivation behind Diana's actions are not well written and the firm direction requisite to depict such a transformation is lacking; however, the importance to the affair of Diana's sister Elizabeth, played by Constance McCashin, is effectively dramatized. Zimbalist is quite mannered during the introductory scenes, but her performance clearly improves as the storyline advances, while climactic events of the film are, thanks to her, its strongest moments as she subtly projects qualities that finally affirm her persona, a nice job of acting, overcoming to some degree such foolishness as having Diana, for purposes of disguise, bleach her own hair without wearing gloves.
Customer Rating: Summary: Love needs an escape from the world, and yet... Comment: This TV film is interesting in many aspects. It shows how a woman lawyer can fall in love with her client, an inmate who has killed two people in selfdefense. She helps him escape and she escapes with him. They get on the run and this adventure shows how they are betrayed, by close friends on his side, and by her sister on her side. The question that arises in this film is how she accepts to run again and away when they are betrayed by his friends (for money), but at the end of their rope, she calls for help from her sister, knowing that her sister will betray them. Then she is the witness of the arrival of the cops but they have no car, so she pacifies him with loving gestures and words instead of telling him the real situation, so that they are captured without any violence or bloodshed. She saves him, or his life, in a way. This is probably the most important proof of her love for him : to save his life because life, even in prison, can lead to some development that will not be entirely negative. The film closes on the meeting of the two when brought to court for the trial after this escape. Their eyes tell us more about love as a redeeming element in life than any long commentary on the subject.

Customer Rating: Summary: love on the run Comment: Stephanie Zimbalist plays Diane Rockland, a young attorney whose life consists of caring for her invalid dad, jogging, and working all the time. She presents as very controlled, but also bored and lonely. Diane gets assigned to defend an inmate, Sean(a VERY young Alec Baldwin). Alec is handsome, intelligent, and charming, and like all good sociopaths, can read people. He senses her vulnerability and plays her perfectly. Diane falls in love and breaks him out of jail. Zimbalist and Baldwin give excellent performances and generate real chemistry. SEE IT!! Customer Rating: Summary: Love on the Run Comment: Stephanie Zimbalist (daughter of Efrem Zimbalist, 77 Sunset Strip and FBI) gives a touching performance as an idealistic, lonely young single attorney living with her invalid father (Howard Duff), and constantly criticized by her older, well-married, establishment sister (Joyce VanPatten). When she finds herself defending an extremely attractive client (Alec Baldwin), she becomes romantically involved without fully realizing the impact her actions will have on her career as well as her life and the lives of her family. I really enjoyed this film and have been a Stephanie Zimbalist fan even before she appeared as Laura Holt in Remington Steel. It's also fun to see how young actors blossom and mature as Alec Baldwin has during his career. Other movies with similar plots are The Getaway (also with Alec Baldwin); Thompson's Last Run (Robert Mitchum).
