Customer Reviews:
Customer Rating: Summary: A Must for Non-profits doing election-year work Comment: Loud and Clear in an Election Year is a much needed tool for any non-profit (501c3) organization hoping to influence an upcoming election, at any level from local to federal. Essentially, this book cuts out legal jargon and spells out, in clear, digestible language, how community organizations can structure their organizing and communications to impact elections and policy.
Unlike many how-to guides, this book is less of a "self-help" guide and more of a tool. It gives lucid examples of what you can and can't do as a non-profit, provides tons of additional resources for further research, and, most importantly, presents real-life case studies that are both engaging to read and informative.
This book is absolutely essential for anyone who works for change in their community, but hasn't quite mastered the federal tax-status obstacle course that holds many organizations back from really influencing policy.
