Summary: Sigh
Comment: Oh, I don't know! This was a weird book for me (and yes, I realize that the rest of the series is far from normal) but to me it was abrupt, a copout of ending the series without requiring much brainstorming. I tried to appreciate where she put the characters--I think she was aiming for a "realistic" ending when it came to the series' citizens. But come on--this is a teen sci-fi series and none of us really wanted realistic. Some wrap-ups were all right, but some were beyond insane and cheesy and it seemed to me that Ms. Applegate was just insanely bored. I also was not fond of her idea of starting a new adventure for the gang without doing anything with it. Rather unorganized, though fairly entertaining and necessary for completing the series--due to the fact that, hey, it's the last one of the bunch. I can't complain about the basic technicalities of ending the series--it worked, it was just all the extra sub-plots that grated on my nerves. Still, a much better job of tying all the knots together could have been done.

Summary: Broken ending...
Comment: After reading the entire series as a kid, I hated this book.
Not because it was poorly written or because of the cliffhanger ending, I thought that was one of the more slightly parts.
No, I hated this book because after 64 books of getting attached to the main characters, 2/3 of this book is just dragging on unnecessarily and destroying the characters I grew to love.
I think it would have been better to end at the scene on the pool ship, where they'd just won the war, but at a tremendous cost. It would have displayed the themes of the book just fine. What bugged me is how it dragged on and on for another 2/3 of the book with each of the characters becoming really broken people, then finally them all dieing (I assumed when I read it, at 12. 17 now). Even though it was supposed to illustrate a tragic ending to war to be realistic, I think it went overboard for a childrens book.

Comment: This book was awful! The author did a horrible job of making a good ending! One major character dies,and two have to say goodbye forever. This book was a big disappointment. If you prefer happy endings, I suggest NEVER to read it!

Summary: A horrible ending for a great series
Comment: I'm a student at Florida State University and out of nowhere felt a desire to read through one of my favorite series as a teenager. The first 53 books, and all the "mega" books were very good. Cassie did tend to get a tad on the annoying side more than any other person, so obviously her books were my least favorite.

THIS book though, the ending to the series... Is total garbage. A character dies due to lack of planning. A simple plan could have prevented it. I strongly recomend reading one of the fanfics I saw when I searched for Animorph Fanfics, it was written by a teenager and provided an ending that was far more satisfactory. Or make up your own ending. Every one of the Animorphs completely broke character after the death occured. Applegate obviously wanted to end her series by turning it to garbage. She succeeded with this book.

Then she gives us a cliff hanger on the LAST book. A cliff hanger?! A cliff hanger where arguably everyone but Cassie dies.... ARGH, like I said, imagine your own ending, imagine this book was never written.

Summary: Not Too Bad, Not the Best
Comment: Although it seems to wrap everything up okay, I believe some parts could've been rewritten, and better.
It also seems that Applegate didn't know how to end the series, and Marco's constant bragging about his perfect life sort of shows it.
Though no epic tale with a fantastic ending--such as Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings or The Chronicles of Narnia--Applegate does her best to end the saga of the Animorphs with a bang and a nice cliffhanger. Definitely a twisted ending, the story of the Animorphs went along nicely for the age group it was written for in the first place.
