Editorial Review:
A brand new novel in which Christmas brightens a bleak Cape Light winter.

In a town like Cape Light, there’s always room in the inn. But when hardships bring people together under one roof, things don’t always go smoothly…

Sam and Jessica Morgan’s holiday joy screeches to a halt when they lose their house to a fire. The heartbreaking loss weighs heavily on their relationship. As tensions flare between them, they are becoming perpetual guests in others’ homes. Meanwhile, single mom Julie Newton also needs a roof over her head due to bad weather, a brokendown car, and a dead cell phone battery. She and her young daughter need Jack Baxter’s help. Jack, still mourning the loss of his wife, can’t turn them away—though his dark moods threaten to scare them right back outside.

As the Morgans share crowded quarters, trying to piece their future together, and Jack’s frozen heart melts day by day with Julie’s presence, it soon becomes clearer than ever that miracles do happen…

Summary: A Christmas Star
Comment: The Cape Light novels have been a blessing to read, with the exception of A Christmas Star. I own nine of the Thomas Kincade / Katherine Spencer Cape Light novels; including A Christmas Star.

To me, this novel was not written in the normal exellence of these authors. I was and am VERY disappointed in the book except for the story line about Jack Sawyer.

If you want to read about Jack check the book out of the library.

Summary: Dealing with Problems
Comment: This book makes the people seem real--with real problems. I think it really highlights what happens to us when we close ourselves off from others after losing a loved one. Losing your home and all you have worked for can create havoc in a family--especially when we don't communicate our fears and feelings.

Summary: Wonderful Christmas prelude
Comment: This is another charming story in a comforting series . . . definitely a must for those who have enjoyed the previous Cape Light families! I give a copy to my mother every Christmas and she always is pleased.

Summary: Not Their Best
Comment: I found this insertion in the Cape Light series to be the weakest of all of the Cape Light books. These are meant to be light, fun reading. It should not be a chore to push through it. The constant complaining and whining of the main character in this installment (Jessica), was just way over the top. Perhaps this would happen in real life, but who wants to read about it? I also felt the solution they used in ending her dilemna was lame.

The only thing that saved the book was the other story they had going about Jack Sawyer. That was fun and great reading for the genre. Just what fans of the series have come to enjoy.

Of course, if you have read all the others, you will have to read this one too, but wait until it comes out in mass market paper.
