Customer Rating: Summary: You only need to read 9 Comment: The book is good, very good but this is what I did and what you should do.
I read the book cover to cover as a novel of short stories. This was a huge mistake, three reasons. Firstly, the stories were concise, witty and had characters who were just, awesome. The essays made my life appear to be leaving noteworthy to inconsequential. I paused and asked myself, are people really so awesome? Secondly, the selections illustrated implied one could write in prose and structure business writing, and successful in writing an awesome essay, about their awesome self. Thirdly, the simplistic essays were full of empathy, more believable and again, awesome.
Faced with these three dilemmas I had deep regrets in reading the book prior to perusing a book review. If I had done so, I would have written my essays before reading these essays. The book gave me encouragement and was able to complete three essays while reading these essays.
Now, I am condemned to writing additional essays, which will be awesome. The book has forced me to delve into my painful past, the wonderful things I have done for others, and to be rambunctious about myself.
Following the above gab my recommendations are; write your essays, print them on parchment paper, mount or laminate them, and put them away. Then select one essay from each section, randomly. Read these essays, analyze them, critically, ask a friend to analysis your analysis, and then compare the analysis.
Surprise, yours will be tame, mater of fact, conservative and not on par for a B School. Based on the nine essays you read, use that knowledge and analysis, and put your pen to an awesome essay. Repeat the above process, which is, critically analyzing your essay, asking a friend to analyze your essay. Compare your laminated essays, how do you feel?
You are satisfied with your work, now read the other 56 essays and you are good to go' Customer Rating: Summary: Incredibly stupid Comment: This book perfectly reflects the fact that in this particular part of the world, the long tongue means everything and what's actually behind that forehead bone means nothing. The Japanese hire based on their judgment on how good the person in question is. The Europeans hire based on their judgment on how good the person can eventually become. We hire based on our judgment on how good they can pretend to be. Isn't it nauseating?... Aren't we all becoming a little sick of paper superheroes, saviors of the world (environment, the poor, the Iraqis - substitute your own martyr)? Isn't it time to wipe out all our buzzwords and favorite cliches and just focus on results?.. Customer Rating: Summary: Outdated.. Comment: This talks about essays which can win you prizes in the creative essay contests..but as far a s admission in today's world into MBA college is concerned..far from reality..
DONT BUY..!!.. Customer Rating: Summary: exactly what the title says Comment: Over time, the essays may become stale, so a regular update to this fluid topic is necessary. However, every essay is a worthwhile read for structure and for content. The most important take-away: what NOT write in an essay. Customer Rating: Summary: one of the best Comment: there are other books that tell you the whole process of applying and preparing your apps. you should get one of those but also get this one. this is one of its kind. it's a small book with some really great essays. exactly what i needed. it's easy to get confused in the whole process of preparing apps; selection of schools, school visits, selecting and talking to recommenders etc. and if you start reading tips of what to write and what not write in your essays, you can easily spend weeks just browsing the internet and taking notes.
this book will give you a good headstart for your essays.
