Editorial Review:
Asking the right questions can help job seekers ace the interview and land that job

The most critical question job interviewers ask is often the last one. That's when they lean forward and say, "Do you have any questions?" As author John Kador points out, that's the applicants' moment to shine, to demonstrate that they have done their homework and that they're good fit with the organization. Most of all, it provides an applicant with an opportunity to ask for the job. A powerful resource for vast and growing numbers of job seekers, this book fills readers in on the pivotal questions they need to ask to ace the interview.

With chapters organized around major themes, such as "the company," "the job," and "the community," 201 Best Questions to Ask on Your Interview not only supplies readers with the right questions for virtually every context but also coaches them on the right ways to ask them.

Summary: Great Book
Comment: I appreciated how this book has prepared me for interviewing. I am pretty comfortable with answering questions, but asking questions was pretty difficult for me. I read this book and wrote down about ten questions to ask. I have gone on many interviews in the last several weeks. Every time I ask a question, the first response I get is "That is an excellent question." I have gained more confidence interviewing because I know that whomever I ask from Hiring Managers to HR to Executive Directors to Unit Managers, I am asking intelligent questions that are getting me called back for second interviews. So I am making the cut. When hundreds of people apply, and there are only five openings, and you make the final cut, the book has definitely helped.

Summary: I nailed it!
Comment: I've been in "transition" for the last 8 months. Prior to this, the last time I had a formal interview was more than 13 years ago. Although I've worked in a technology related field for the past 13 years, I started my job search process pretty much following the same process I used in the past except I added my resume to Career Builder and Monster.

After 4 months with minimal interest from local employers, I finally got the hint and realized I was doing something terribly wrong. So I began buying current books on the subject, attending online and local workshops, researching the process online, and talking to others who are going thourhg this too. I gathered everything I could on job searching, resume writing, interviewing, and networking and began applying ALL their recomnmendations and tips.

This book was one of several great resources I found. It arrived 4 days before two interviews I had scheduled. I spent the day after it arrived reading it cover to cover. The next day I went through it again, highlighting key questions and dog-earing tons of pages. Then I created two Word documents, one for each interview and began writing down the question I wanted to ask at each interview. And following the advice of this book I took these papers to the interviews, pulled them out when it was my turn to ask the questions, and went through them all. Both interviewers were impressed by my organization, by the number, and by the types of questions I asked. I left knowing I'd made a good impression at both interview. Sure enough, I was called back for 2nd and 3rd interview at both companies. I've since recieved and offer from one, and the second company is due to make their decision this coming week.

Who knows...maybe after months of little to no interest, I may finally have two offers to choose from. While this book is not the only resource I used to help me get to this point, it did play a key role. I would highly recommend it to anyone who isn't well versed and confident in asking questions in an interview. It will give you great insight and help you prepare to knock their socks off!

Summary: FAKE REVIEWS - at least the first 6 or so
Comment: The first several reviews were written within a couple days apart - certainly raises a suspicion. I don't have time to figure out if the rest of the glowing reviews are fake, too.

Summary: Great book!! Impresses potential employers, etc.
Comment: I read this book along with "Business Etiquette" before an internship interview and it really impressed my potential employer. Needless to say I was given the job and I am a Finance Intern. This book exemplifies to the potential employer that you take the initiative, research the company, and are really interested in working for that company. The book allows you to ask questions that give you insight into the "inside workings" of the company, etc. It is a must have for any interviewee.

Summary: Solid, thought-provoking, sure to help...
Comment: This book is a solid buy for anyone new to the art of interviewing. I found myself in the middle of a career change (by choice) from the military to the civilian world, so I was totally unfamiliar with most of the finer points of the interview cycle. This book was on my "to read" list in preparation for my transition, but I waited until about one week before my first interviews to read through it--and my only regret is that I did not read it earlier!

The book is clearly organized, well worded, and easy to apply to almost any interview. One word of caution--this book does seem to cater more to those interviewing for management or mid-level positions. If you do find yourself in this position, then get this book! Even if you do not read it page-by-page, simply skimming through the topics will generate tons of ideas for good questions to ask. Just be sure to make them your own, and don't use this book as a "script" for the interview.

I agree 100% with the author's assessment that the majority of the interview occurs once it is opened up to YOU for your questions! Solid buy for anyone looking to better their chances in their next management interview.
