[fixed] Events stopped displaying Reply to topic

I have been using version 2.1.0 of cpgnucalendar for, well since it was released, and an earlier version for a long time before this. I just now noticed that all events have stopped displaying beginning on Dec. 1, 2011. They will show in the block, but not in the calendar body. I am receiving no php or cms notices about this so I am clueless as to what could be wrong.

Any ideas? or can you tell me what I need to look at? I have cleared the /cache and browser cache but still no luck. The events will enter into the database but they will not display. This has just started.

Edit: After toying around with this some more, I see that the event will display in the calendar as long as I set it up to be a "recurring event". In order for it to display, it has to be shown to recur for one day only with the start and stop on the same day. Why did this just start all of a sudden?

Thanks.

Strange indeed - it seems I have the same issue here, but this is DF v10, so other issues come into play, and I am having other unrelated javascript issues. In fact, I have been able to add an event using IE instead of FF, which is where I have a javascript problem.

However, I have just tested on a DF v9.3 site and it works as it should.

Perhaps you have some javascript conflict issue?

I will be glad to discuss this in the public forum, but I prefer to keep the link private. Check your PM please.

I can't see anything obvious - I just submitted an event - is it awaiting approval?

I can see it set for Dec. 15. Events do not need Administrator approval to display. It should be displaying, but it is not. By the way, I made you an admin for the calendar module, just in case you wanted to verify the settings.

Now, edit the event to "repeat" for that one day and it will display.

What doesn't make sense to me is that you have those events listed under pending events - shouldn't be any there if they are auto approved.

Through phpmyadmin can you check the table cms_cpgnucalendar for any of those events and check the approved column?

Can you confirm your DF version is 9.1.2.1?
Have you considered upgrading to 9.3.2?

I'm testing on 9.3.2 and have no such issues, even with identical settings to you.

All of the events have been approved. They show a date that I guess they were auto approved or entered on. I didn't think that they should be there, as this page is usually empty.

I can upgrade and have been meaning to. I will try and get to it very soon. It should be an easy upgrade as everything is stock with no, well maybe one, hack.

This version of DF is 9.2.1.
Setting Value
CMS Version 9.2.1
PHP Version 5.3.3
MySQL Version 5.1.55 (client: 5.1.55)
GD Version 2.0

For the life of me, I can not figure out why this just started acting like this after using it for over 5 years, and at least 2 years on this version of 2.1.0 of the nucalendar module.

My bad - pending shows if unapproved, or if approved on the current day.

It's puzzling to me also - just doesn't make any sense, especially when I can't duplicate it.

My problem on this site duplicated yours, but that was because I had a javascript issue here - when I removed that issue, this site worked as expected. Consequently I speculated about javascript but there is no evidence of that on your site.

Only one other thing, and I can't see why in this instance, but PHP 5.3 is one of the aspects that Nano dealt with when he produced 9.3.2. I'll try a test with 5.3 on my local server.

Thanks, and I will upgrade the site on Friday.

I've just tested the calendar with DF 9.3.2 under PHP 5.3 and no problems adding an event in December.

I don't have a functioning DF 9.2.1 on my local so can't verify there - if I get time to sort that out, I'll try later.

This situation is just going from weird to weirder. Today, Dec. 1, I checked the site and your event is visible. I thought that you must have made the event "repeating", so I checked only to see that it was not a "repeating" event. So I changed the other events to non-repeating events and they too showed up in the calendar. I have no clue as to what is happening here.

Also, shouldn't all of the events for the preceding months be visible? As soon as the month changed to Dec. 1 they disappear from the calendar.

Thanks for looking into this and I will upgrade the calendar on Friday. I will be just too busy at work to try and do it today.

It may be that the moment you removed repeating, it removed all repeated occurrences - I would have to trace the code to be sure.

Ok, I will let you in on what has been happening with this. I am not too happy with DF at the moment, but this may pass.

I upgraded to the newest stable version 9.3.2.0 and the calendar still functions the same, as in not correctly displaying the events. However, when I do a fresh install, then the calendar functions correctly. So, I will try to re-create the site as best I can. This doesn't sound too bad, but immediately I am faced with the problem of the users table not correctly importing. Yuck.

I have been messing with this for most of the day so I have to quit, just to same my sanity.

Your experiences are certainly weird - though past events are not displaying, they are certainly in your system, as seen when you click all events in admin.

The fact that calendar functions correctly in a fresh install tends to imply there is some issue in your original site, even though we weren't able to see it.

Something is amiss because the current date isn't showing on the main calendar page.

Would it be possible to activate the four debug warnings/notices, and queries for that matter?

The debug notices have been activated. Let me know if you need more admin access to test it out.
