[solved] UserGroups in Products Does Not Affect At All Reply to topic

I am using Storez 9.2.3 (updated on August 4, 2008).
From admin panel:
- I added a product, give it a certain UserGroups to the product at the "Member Group for this product:" section.
- I set "Guests Can Add Items to Cart" to "No", and "Guests Can Checkout" to "No".
- I logout from admin panel.

Then:
- I log in by using an user account that does not belong to that UserGroup above and make sure I have logout from admin panel.
- In fact, I still can choosing and purchase the product.
- The usergroup looks like does not affect at all. (?)
Please CMIIW.

User Groups only apply when someone actually purchases a product - then they are auto assigned to a selected group, if your PayPal IPN is set correctly.

I have checked the account belong to the user who purchased the product, but he still didn't belong to that User Group. For your information, the user was using money order payment method and not using PayPal payment method.

Why must PayPal IPN be first set correctly in order to auto assigned to the user? Why if the user did not use PayPal as his payment method? In fact, the user group did not auto-assigned to a selected group.

In My Humble Opinion, you should modify this feature in order if the user using another payment method beside PayPal, this still work. Thanks.

Because it is setup to happen automatically from PayPal IPN return data - if you are using a manual payment system, you will have to manually add them to a group.

You cannot auto assign people to a group just on the basis that they place an order - that doesn't make sense.

Okay, I got the point. Yes

Please add this prerequirement to "Read Me" section in admin panel, in order we know how it should be working. Especially for those who have just known about this feature. Thanks in advanced.

Unlike many other areas, this area has not been totally overhauled yet.

For example:
Currently admins have freedom to edit the various order status fields - this means I am unable to make use of say, "Completed", to automatically change various things. My intent is to limit that freedom so that when "Completed" is manually assigned by admin, such things as groups can be assigned automatically.

Even then, you will still have to manually make that change to "Completed".

No matter with that. I understand about various admin's needs.

What I mean is: at least, we will know how the new feature will work, and we also know the limitation of such new feature (including its prerequirement). That is why you need to provide it in "ReadMe" section in Storez Admin panel. Thanks. Wise
